Dive with Manta rays

Devil rays, also known as the “flying rays” due to their sporadic breaching, can attain a width of 5.2 meters (17 feet) while the Manta rays can reach up to 7 meters (23 feet)! There are three species of mobulids occurring in the Azores: The most common Mobula tarapacana, Mobula mobular (rare) and also the giant Manta birostris that passes through the Azores during its migration. In the Azores, these species appear during the warmer months and have a preference for shallow seamounts such as: Dom João de Castro Bank, Sabrina/Lourenços Reef, Formigas Islets, Dollabarat and Ambrósio Reefs.
