Coastal Dive Trips

Coastal Diving Trips
Season challenge offers you a great variety of diving spots in São Miguel Island to explore, from rock formations to artificial reefs. Our team provides safe and professional guidance throughout our local diving spots always ensuring that you will dive in the best diving conditions as possible. From our diving spots, we highlight the artificial reef of Dori shipwreck. Dori was a cargoship used for several military missions during World War II. In 1964, the ship sank in the south coast of São Miguel Island (Azores) due to a hull damage. Nowadays, Dori shipwreck is protected as an archeologic site and is one of the best dives to do in Azores due to the great diversity of species living there. In coastal dives you will be able to see Ornate wrasse ( Thalassoma pavo), blue damselfish (Abudefduf luridus), parrotfish (Sparissoma atricausa), white seabream (Diplodus sargus), grey triggerfish (Balistes capriscus), mediterranean and fangtooh morays (Muraena helena and Enchelycore anatina), stingrays (Dasyatis pastinaca). You can also observe large pelagic species such as the yellowmouth barracuda (Sphyraena viridensis), guelly jacks (Pseudocarantx dentex), among other fascinating species. Although this program is not an actual diving course, it will give you the opportunity to breathe underwater and see the amazing marine life diversity. So what are you waiting for?
